Training in History, Archaeology and Palaeoenvironment at New Delhi.
It came into being in order to:
* fight out the menace of pollution;
* create public awareness to preserve the cultural heritage irrespective
of the religious affiliations of the individual monuments, sites
and work of arts and crafts;
* involve schools to clean, care and preserve the historical monuments
in their neighbourhood;
* involve ministries and educational departments for provision for
exhibitions on culture and heritage;
* to undertake projects to explore, excavate and preserve ancient
sites;
* encourage research in all aspects and all sources of Indian history;
* launch and encourage good publications for mass circulation, for
research and education, and for schools to fulfill the aims and
objectives for which the CHAP has been created;
and finally,
* associate on long-term and continuing basis the governmental,
non-governmental and professional organizations which are active
in the fields of culture, archaeology and education.
