We are happy to inform you that the Indian Archaeological Society
has been invited to hold its, this years', Annual Conference by
the M.H. Krishna Institute of Indology, located in the premises
of the Mythic Society, Bangalore. Significantly, a few other Societies
are also holding their Annual Conferences on the same dates at Bangalore.
This will benefit all of us. Please note that Bangalore in December
is cold with temperatures going down to 140C, hence, do bring a
few woollens with you.

Beyond this date delegates will be required
to make their own arrangements for accommodation.
The Registration Fee should be sent to the
Organizing Secretary by a Bank Draft drawn in favour of 'Director,
M.H.Krishna Institute of Indology, Bangalore' and payable at any
Nationalized Bank in Bangalore.

The Conference is meant strictly for members
of the Society. If any of your colleagues, students or friends,
who is not a member and yet wants to participate in the Conference,he/she
can do so after becoming a Life Member or Annual Member before 15th
November, 2005. The subscription for Life Membership of the Indian
Archaeological Society is Rs. 2000/-and Annual Membership Rs. 500/-.
The subscription should be sent to Shri KN. Dikshit by a bank draft
or cheque (with Rs. 30/- extra), in favour of Indian Archaeological
Society at the New Delhi Address of the Society.
Members should return the enclosed attendance
form duly completed to the M.H. Krishna Institute of Indology, the
Mythic Society, Bangalore before 15th October, 2005 with a copy
of that to the Society headquarters at Delhi.
The theme of the seminar of the Society
will be 'History and Archaeology of Long Distance Trade',
It is hoped that scholars will contribute their papers on any one
aspect of this theme.
There will also be "Open Sessions ",
where scholars can present their papers on the subject of their
specialization.
The abstract should be neatly typed in single
page, double space, on one side of A4 size paper. It should not
exceed 250 words, and be sent to Prof. S.Nagaraju and also a copy
of the same should be sent to the head office at Delhi of the Indian
Archaeological Society.
ONLY THOSE MEMBERS WHO SEND THE REGISTRATION
FEE AND ABSTRACT IN TIME (i.e., BEFORE 15TH OCTOBER, 2005) WILL
FIND A PLACE IN THE CONFERENCE PROGRAMME.
The members are sincerely requested to adhere
to the time schedule specified above to enable: (a) the Coordinator
to know the exact number of participants well in advance for making
lodging, boarding and other arrangements, and (b) to chalk out and
print the programme for presentation of papers.
Due to paucity of time, no member will be
permitted to present more than one paper in the Conference. In order
to give adequate time to the members to present their papers, and
to have discussion on them, we will strictly adhere to the printed
programme.
Members intending to bring their family
members/friends with them should write to Prof. S.Nagaraju, latest
by 15th October, 2005 requesting him to arrange for their boarding
and lodging. The registration fee for them also will be Rs. 500/-
(Five hundred) per person.
Since computerized railway reservations
are made at almost all the major railway stations, you are requested
to kindly book your return reservation at your end itself.
